Hey guys was just wondering what the "redline" is for our 6.0. and how they handle the upper rpm's in stock form.

Re: Rpm limit

I believe redline is 4200 or so if I remember my gauge correctly. My truck hasn't been stock for a while so I can't say how it handles the upper RPM range in that form.

Re: Rpm limit

If I recall the 2003 is about 250 RPM's higher than the later models. A custom tune can adjust this.

Re: Rpm limit

High rpms in a stock 6.0 runs the risk of valve/piston contact. I wouldn't advise it...

Do a quick google search. Leaves a perfect valve imprint in the top of the piston.

Re: Rpm limit

Thanks, I don't plan on cranking it any where near 4200. I don't think I have gotten past 3300. that just seems too high for a diesel. Just wanted an idea of where these engines like to run. Runs great from 1000-2500 rpm, but,My truck seems to bog after 2500 rpm. Is that normal?

Under 2500 is your torque curve.

Re: Rpm limit

Stock trucks definitely seem to run better down low. My truck's sweet spot seems to be around 2700-2800 now with a little bit of work done.

Re: Rpm limit

That's what I never liked about 6.0s they lack the low low end of torque
