4" turbo back exhaust

I have a 2005 f250 6.0 and i been looking at doin a 4" turbo back ext but.. When I look at some like MBRP it shows that it is a 4" turbo back but it shows the down pip to be a 3 1/2 " pip then turns into a 4" but my ? Is don't it need to be a 4" right off the back all the way out? And does it matter if the exhaust goes all the way out to the rear or not or can I stop it about mid way and put a tip on it facing down?

Re: 4" turbo back exhaust

Most guys run a 4" DP...3.5" will be fine as well, but there are plenty of kits out there that do come with a 4" DP.

You can leave the pipe short if you want. Just depends on how loud you want it in the cab. I'd imagine dumped under the cab would get pretty obnoxious around 2500rpms!

Re: 4" turbo back exhaust

3.5" tends to be easier to install while 4" may make contact. This leads to customer complaints and realignment could take several times to get it right. Plenty run 4" DP with no issues but then every truck is not exactly the same.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people my friend....those with loaded guns, and those who dig.

You dig.

Re: 4" turbo back exhaust

I talked to mbrp today and they said the 3 1/2 inch downpipe will make no difference in performance a said they don't do the 4 inch because of not fitting i'm told they help with fuel mileage that's why I want to do it but I just wanted to make sure that three to half inch downpipe be okay and still work for me on the field mileage versus 4 inch downpipe

Re: 4" turbo back exhaust

I grabbed the AFE kit, Which came with the 3.5" DP, I don't know if it's just my truck or what, But it's a close call between the flex pipe on the uppipe, and the rear shackle of the front leaf spring.

It was rubbing for a little bit until I had the exhaust shop tweak it around a little bit. Make me SO ANNOYED with all the vibrations in the cab

There are a lot of people here with experience, yes a 4" will fit, but everyone that has tried it will tell you that you will have to "massage"/hammer the fire wall to get it to fit.

....the one he's selling is a "free exhaust gift certificate of your choice"....so he's selling the gift certificate....it will fit any vehicle...cars, trucks, whatever.
