egr delete, kind of..

ive read where guys "delete" their egr by using their programmer and never popping the hood and im wondering how effective this is? i have a tuner and can do it, just wondering if it even matters and what it does, since the egr is still there. also what about unplugging the egr too?

Re: egr delete, kind of..

Turning off egr will keep soot out of intake and egr cooler will stay cool "no egr flow"
Keep the valve plugged in.
Its a good place to start, eliminates many of egr related issues, But problem is cooler can still leak.

I'm not a fan of using the tuner alone. You need to block the exhaust gases from entering the EGR cooler. Easy step would be to block the up-pipe connection at the rear of the EGR cooler.

Using the tuner is said to limit the EGR valve operation thus limiting the amount of exhaust entering the EGR cooler.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people my friend....those with loaded guns, and those who dig.

You dig.

Hhmm, so now I'm stuck between doing an not with those two responses...one sounds good and one sounds bad?

A tired EGR valve can be forced open by boost in the low thirties.

Re: egr delete, kind of..

egr flow is hard on the engine if you have a tuner simplest thing to do is turn it off FREE simply select off with your sct device, a good place to start. after that next thing to do is eliminate the chance of the cooler leaking by replacing it or deleting it. If you do delete it EGR will still need to be turned off

Re: egr delete, kind of..

well i turned off the egr yesterday and gave it a higher idle while i was at it. is the only advantage to the high idle that u can hear the turbo better then?

Re: egr delete, kind of..

Your heater and your A/C will probably work better. I set my idle up higher in the winter.
