I got a quote from a shop the other day to do head studs, oil cooler, and an upgraded EGR cooler. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I should do while my truck is already apart. Any suggestions on other upgrades that would be convenient to do during this process?
I think I would rather do the EGR delete but there are a few reasons I'm not. The shop doing the work for me doesn't do them anymore, but I trust them so much with the rest of my truck that I want them to do my studs, so I'm not going to take it elsewhere for the delete and pay for the labor twice. I also worry about emissions testing down the road and the possibility of running into problems having the delete. At the same time, I know the delete is better for the truck, so I'm kind of torn. Thoughts are appreciated!
I have emissions and have EGR delete and never had a problem just run a SCT and turn EGR off. I would do simple things like coolant filter kit, 6.4 banjo bolts, blue spring kit while they are already doing work on the truck.

STC fitting, updated turbo feed & drain tubes.. in my opinion upgrade the cooler and just shut it off with the tuner looks stock. no significant benefit to deleting it. I have seen just about as many delete kits leak as factory coolers. I have never seen a bpd cooler leak
i would def put new lifters in as well. my mechanic took the stock egr cooler and welded plugs in the holes to maintain factory look. new ipr and hpop if they are not already updated. oil cooler as well.
