Pmax & 190 injectors

Mornin boys! Ran across a pmax that has been used by a local guy for towing on a mostly stock rig. He uses a flat bed to tow other trucks short distances. He also has an unused set of 190 injectors. What are they worth? Don't know the brand of injectors. Btw, he's a diesel tech so I'm sure clean the turbo for me.

Re: Pmax & 190 injectors

190 injectors are a lot of fuel for a powermax, but you an always get fuel pulled threw tuning. Try and find out what nozzles are on the injector because that will have an effect on price. As far as the turbo, how many miles are on it, does it have a billet wheel?

Not sure on the wheel. I don't think it has more than $5k on it. He uses it on a tow truck to pick up customers rigs that are broke down. I don't care for the injectors, too much for me, but he want a to sell it all together.

Re: Pmax & 190 injectors

Well the turbo is a used turbo so I would think it would be worth around $700-$800. As far as the injectors go we need more details like if there made from ford remans or just cores that were sent in.

Re: Pmax & 190 injectors

They probably only have 30% nozzles if it was used for towing.

Could also have stock nozzles

Re: Pmax & 190 injectors

Highly doubt just stock. It wasn't till about a week and a half ago that Jesse put stock nozzles on. And I know the other builders didn't put stocks on 190's since noone really knew exactly how much could be emptied out of the barrel by a smaller nozzle.
30% flow around 220cc's

Re: Pmax & 190 injectors

Appreciate it. Still not sold on it, but $700-$800 at least gives me a starting point on the pmax

^^^ I don't mean to call you out... but this info is not true.

Here is a thread going back almost a year with tons of guys running 190/stock
anyone using warrens 190/stock injectors? - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

Here is my opinion on 190/stock

You would have to run a very large pulse width to get 190/stock to dump all 190cc of fuel. I think 190/30 are a better combo but still pushing it. I sell a lot of 175/stock injectors and some guys love them and some guys claim zero hp gains. I have worked with some shops and without a FICM tune and with a typical pulse width of 2.4ms those tuners see 0 gains over stock injectors. I have narrowed it down to the tuning that is run. I have some IDP tunes that run 2.8ms of pulse width which help to dump most of the fuel... but that is going to really raise the cylinder pressures.

With that said I love the 175/stock and 190/stock option for someone looking for around 500hp. You get great atomization and great fuel mileage and can get them for a really good price. Then later on down the road you can buy a set of nozzles and swap them and gain a lot of power.

I dynoed my 175/stock vs 175/75 with a KC 68mm Stage 3 turbo (nothing changed except for the tune and nozzles). My seat of the pants did not notice a huge difference but the dyno shows otherwise. I think the reason my seat of the pants was off is because the larger nozzles had a lower atomization which moved the torque curve a little to the right, it actually caused the turbo to spool a little later (lost a little bit of driveability)

You can see that the smaller nozzles get more low end torque (not peak torque) it just kicks in sooner. After about 2800 rpms the bigger nozzles take over big time.

Hope that helps
