Re: swapping 04 to an 03 turbo

yes - there are a couple people who have done this that i've read about. the 03 has less vanes i believe, which makes it louder. if i recall correctly, the 03 turbos have 10 or 11 vanes, 04s have 13, 05s have 15. i would imagine it may flow just a tad more assuming the vanes are the same size and that there are just less of them. also i think they may have different compressor wheels.
honestly, i can't see the advantage unless you can get one very cheap. then again, i am no 6.0 turbo expert.

Re: swapping 04 to an 03 turbo

yeah, i have a ford racing intake, with a 4in turbo back mbrp exhaust w/ 6 in tip......

my whistle is freaking awesome.....i'm always getting asked what kind of aftermarket turbo i have.

i thought the 03s had more vanes, which would mean bigger and better boost right?

i can tell you with almost absolute certainty that they have less vanes than the newer turbos. more vanes would mean to me more restriction - there's got to be a reason people are going from newer turbos to older ones.

I get the same questions. The 03 has less vanes. You running a muff. on it or straight. I have mine on and wonder if its loader off.
