DIY friendly EGR delete?

I'm relatively new to the world powerstrokes and am learning some of the joys and horrors of having my 04 6.0L. It sounds like an EGR delete may be in the cards. I was just wondering if there are any delete kits that are DIY friendly for someone with some mechanical experience and if not, what I could expect to pay to have a kit installed. I saw sinister has one they say is DIY friendly, but I can many for a lot less dough... but if I go to a shop, I'm afraid those savings will be ate up.

Re: DIY friendly EGR delete?

I have the alligator diesel kit, did it with the help of a friend wasnt too bad. Find a buddy and plan on a whole day if you haven't done one just to be safe but you can do it yourself.

2005 F350 ex-cab long bed, 4x4. SRW. Big tires, bolts here and there...deleted a few things, added a few others, a couple monitoring devices.

Re: DIY friendly EGR delete?

I have an aluminum spool from ebay that replaces the EGR valve, 10 min install, and when combined with a blocked up pipe prevents coolant from entering the motor if the EGR cooler fails. Only use if your EGR cooler has not already failed! I have 70k miles on this setup, I will probably go with a BulletproofDiesel welded EGR cooler down the line to remain visually stock.

You can pull your EGR cooler and weld in freeze plugs in both ends and reinstall. Leave your EGR valve in place. This is good for passing smog checks. Downside is you probably will need SCT to turn the dash light off.
