Re: Airdog or Fass???

stock for me
too many problem threads for the Fass motors

also you may have a restriction somewhere that won't be resolved with a new pump

Re: Airdog or Fass???

I did alot of diagnosis. I blocked off return line and drove it. Still went down to 20psi..its def the pump. Ans Fass cleaned up their act they solved their problems.

Re: Airdog or Fass???

I don't agree with Fass not being a problem anymore ..
based solely on f what I see on the forums ,, so while it is not first hand info I don't see the need for an upgrade over OEM pumps unless your running mods that flow way more fuel?
other than the air separation benefit that some aftermarket pumps offer .. just My 2 cents

The early AD2's did have some issues but they have changed the regulator material. If you slap a high volume pump on your truck without upgrading the suction side of it then your going to have issues later on. I have had an AD2 for over five years with zero issues and do a lot of towing in all weather so my AD2 is worked hard. There are a lot of good combinations out there, just do a little research. My setup has the AD2 pulling from a fuel sump through 3/4" SS tubing (yah a little on the large side ), then pushed through 1/2" SS tubing, to a "Y" block then braided SS hose to the front of the heads. It wasn't until about a year ago I built a RR return, but not for the reason most guys put them in for, which is for uniform fuel pressure to the injectors.

SCT, no studs...yet, Dual OEM intake air filter housings, Banks intercooler & intake elbow, Banks exhaust syatem, Windrunner ported intake manifold, Bullet Proof Diesel remote oil cooler & thermostat, AirDog2 (plus a couple spares), Power steering filter (Amsoil dual-bypass), MagTec deep ATF pan, Electric oil pre-lub pump, Dakota Digital gauges.

Re: Airdog or Fass???

well im gonna throw a known good 6.0 stock pump on tomorrow to make sure its 100% my pump thats causing low pressure at wot..and if it is im going to buy a stock pump and just be done with it since im still running stock injectors. when i go bigger ill buy a fass or airdog.

I dont care what people say about ONLY the "early" AD2's have problems. I still hear about people that are getting the AD2s and guess what?? Yep they are still sh!tt!ng the bed. I heard the AD1s and low pressure FASS units were way more reliable and so that is what I went with and so far (~2500 miles) and still good. I also havent heard of anyone running either the A1000 or Fuelab pumps taking a dump so I went with an A1000 so we'll see. I only have about 1k miles so far. JMO take it FWIW. I did A LOT of research on fuel setups and the AD2 is NOT what I could ever recommend to anyone to run on their truck. In fact many reputible shops have stopped selling the AD2 due to the high failure rate.
