New 6.0 Truck

Im looking at buying at 6.0 truck. What are the must things I should do to the truck when I get it. Has 80,000 on it completely stock.
Who are the right companies to use to get the best performance?
My budgets in the 2000 to 2500 range.
I have always done all my own work on my 7.3 looking to do the same on new truck.
Thanks for any input.

Re: New 6.0 Truck

Start with a good set of gauges, coolant filter kit, change oil and all filters

To get some performance go with a custom tuned sct

I picked innovative diesel for my tunes and love them, there's a lot of other good places

2006 f250 4x4 6in lift 37x13.5 tires
A few engine parts here and there

Re: New 6.0 Truck

Edge CTS for monitoring everything right off the bat and this way you can see how doing stuff affects your motor and/or where you need to focus your efforts. $600 w/pyro.

Oil Change $100
4in turbo back exhaust $500-$600 bucks

Now depending on what your EOT and ECT are doing (i.e. could be saying you need a new oil cooler) I would spend the rest of the money swapping out the oil cooler if necessary and doing head studs.

If not then GREAT and either way I would delete the EGR, get a SCT w/custom tunes, and (provided your head gaskets are still sealing [you can check that with a 0-15psi gauge]) I would buy a set of ARP head studs for $400 and stick them in one at a time.

Hope this helps man. Best of luck.
