How strong are our stock internals

How strong are our stock internals, how far can we push em for a safe DD but make the most horsepower. also does anyone have a link where I can learn the ins and outs of the deisel engine, I am very well versed in the gasoline engine and have built many motors including big block chevys small block fords even my buddies audi stroker motor. I wanna learn more about the deisel system

Look in the 6.0 tech sticky for the 6.0 bible. as for the internals, 575hp DD is max you want you can spray the internals up to 650 after that rods arent to happy I believe. But you also have to build up to it as well. Look at the Horsepower goals I have listed at the top.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

IIRC the stock internals have been used to make nearly 1000HP. Ask Shawn Ellerton (Redneck 6.0), he has pushed the stock internals pretty far.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

stock internals will hold up to 1000hp with the exception of the rods. So, if you plan on running stock rods...i'd say 700 maybe. I pretty sure Redneck6.0L is over 600hp with his twin turbo'd dually...and last i knew, everything is stock...even the rods.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

Shawn should be in on this thread shortly. He campaigned his truck for two seasons with a stock bottom end. They can take it up to 1000hp.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

Yea, I personally would not try push 1000Hp with stock rods and even getting up over 600Hp, I would upgrade the rods. JMO would rather be safe than sorry.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

The rods were after the two seasons. I already lost that battle and was corrected in a different thread. Ask him.

Re: How strong are our stock internals

the 6.0 can handle allot of power like stated above. BUT there is one thing that will crack the pistons, and that is having the timing advanced from race tunes. Many have cracked pistons by using race tunes for towing. The advanced timing from the race tunes create high cylinder pressures from the initial ignition, cracking pistons. But this is well known and is easily prevented by the programing.

Or forged pistons. I know I know forged are not stock.
