Thumbs down Exhaust Install Problem

Just finished installing RBP exhaust on 04 Powerstroke crew cab. It took quite longer than what I though. Sounds great, but the only problem I am running into is the tail end of the exhaust system with the orignial OEM hanger. After it is installed it sits directly behind my rear tire and has alot of sway. Everything is installed correctly but makes the exhaust look like crap on the truck plus it is almost on the tire. Anybody else have these problems?? Any suggestions?

not sure if it will help, but maybe some of the piping is overlapped too much, maybe see if you can stretch the pipe connections a little it, might give you a little more space on the end.

just a thought

completley stock truck...just a simple cat back system....and maybe a few other odds and ends

Re: Exhaust Install Problem

was their kit specific for a shorbed? and do you have a longbed? many exhaust kits come with several different length sections that you utilize depending on bed length

otherwise, I'm with powerstrokedkid. You might have too much pipe overlapping at each joint.

Re: Exhaust Install Problem

Don't have none overlapping. The problem is with the original OEM hanger. It will only fit into one spot on the frame, putting the piping right behind the tire.

Re: Exhaust Install Problem

got any pictures then?

if the hanger was correct, would the new exhaust pipe line up properly? or is there not enough length?

if a new hanger and then she'll line up properly, I would shoot the company a nasty e-mail or call. Hopefully they'll send a new one that works

until then, you can get generic hangers from the parts store. it's a tab that you bolt to the frame...has what looks like tire rubber and then another tab on the other end. it isn't ideal, but it'll work in a pinch until a better method is found
