2006 6.0 coming out of warranty

Alright my dads 06 is coming out of warranty at 100k here soon. Its a crew cab longbox, had the ipr valve replaced, a couple injectors replaced (all under warranty) and the cold weather programming. What should we have done to this pickup to make it last another 100k or better.

Re: 2006 6.0 coming out of warranty

In all honesty I recommend you get a monitoring device like an Edge CTS. You need to be able to monitor your engine's health parameters to see how things look when something goes wrong or breaks and how things change when you decide to add power mods. This is where you should start to get another 100K out of it.

Re: 2006 6.0 coming out of warranty

sounds like maybe run the sucker till it pukes. We were tempted to do the headstuds, egr delete, etc..... just wondering if it will even be worth it. the pickup doesnt push coolant knock on wood. maybe its time for the fummins.

Re: 2006 6.0 coming out of warranty

I wouldnt do the studs without needing to. Unless you were looking to start putting down some power. You are at the right spot for either selling it, converting to fummins, or building it. The easiest route obviously is to sell it or run it until something breaks and try something new but what I wouldnt advise doing (unless you have deep pockets) is starting to build it and then lose faith and go to a fummins or sell. Just pick a route and stick with it. I think all three choices are good ones, you just need to figure out what the goals are going to be for the truck and which option allows you to meet most of those goals and then stick with whatever one you decide on.

Re: 2006 6.0 coming out of warranty

This is just a ranch pickup, used mainly for pulling a horse trailer, camper, flatbed, and for going to town. It doesnt need power, just reliability is the big issue. He's been towed before by a dmax (my 06) and doesnt want that to happen again. lol
