Oil Cooler

I have been doin some research on BulletProof Diesel and their oil cooler system. Is anyone running this or something like it and if so how much does it help and is it worth it?

Re: Oil Cooler

I run something like it. As far as if it helps or not is really subjective in my opinion. If you want to ensure that you dont ever have your oil cooler get plugged and rupture then yea it is worth it. Now I also think that if you just rebuilt your oil cooler, added a coolant filter, and switched to ELC you would probably be just as good even though it could still possibly rupture. Having said that, I recommend that if you do go with deleting your oil cooler that you just go with the bullet proof kit and not try and make one your self unless you like fabricating. Just pay the price and get it. It is a super high quality kit and they use high quality stuff. I have made my own kit and it works good and the thing I like the most with deleting the oil cooler is being able to use a spin on filter vice a cartridge filter. I will be doing a write up on my setup once I get done modifying mine and will post some pics of it. I did my own vice getting the bullet proof kit because I didnt like the price and I wanted a bypass filter with mine and at that time they didnt have the bypass option. Anyways PM me for more info on mine if you are interested.

Re: Oil Cooler

I am running a BPD oil cooler with the cold weather kit. The BPD kit is a well designed and well executed kit. The billet oil cooler delete block is a real thing of beauty. Everything about the kit is first rate and over built which is the way I like to do things. It is the best solution available if you want to eliminate the oem oil cooler.

However like windrunner said, if you put a fresh oem cooler in, get rid of the G05 and go with a good ELC, And clean the cooling system real well before the switch over your oem cooler will be pretty reliable. There is always a potential for it to rupture and make a mess by cross contamination of the cooling and oil systems but a good monitoring solution will tell you in advance if you are developing oil cooler problems in plenty of time to deal with it.

Re: Oil Cooler

Yep but Green what do you think of not having to use the factory cartridge filter? Do you like the spin on better, worse, dont care, etc??

Re: Oil Cooler

That was kind of a benefit for me when I decided to go the delete route. If some people dont care then that is fine as well. I'm just curious what others think.
