asking for your opinions

i own an 06 F-250 CCLB FX4, and currently have ranchero shocks on the truck. i am in the proccess of picking out tires for my truck and will replace the shocks at the same time. i have had ranchero shocks before and have had no problems, but have been wondering what brand and model you guys prefer.

i would like to ask you members, what brand and model of shocks to you run on your rig, which have you been satisfied with and which would you not buy and install again?

i would appreciate you answers as i know this isnt the most interesting of topics, but would really help me out in determining which ones i end up putting on my truck. thanks for your help

Re: asking for your opinions

:WHS: didn't like the Rancho's at all. 5100 in the rear, and 5150's up front.

Re: asking for your opinions

The FX4 "Ranchos" are actually Motorcraft shocks that are dressed up.

Bilstein gets my vote for OEM replacements.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people my friend....those with loaded guns, and those who dig.

You dig.

I was glad to get rid of my Bilsteins

I really like the adjustability of My Rancho 9000's

Re: asking for your opinions

'stien 5100's here........and yes, if you pay attention the FX4 literature back then (maybe even now?) says Rancho "branded" shocks. What a joke!

2005 F250 Lariat FX4 ARP Studs, River City EGR Delete, CC Vent Mod, Tunes from Innovative, Innovative FICM flash, Zoodad, 4" Magnaflow Straight Turbo Back, Sinister Coolant Filter, Ford Blue Spring Upgrade, 6.4 Banjo's, leveling kit, Bilstiens, B&W Companion, F350 blocks, 35" Toyo M/T's on stock 17's

Re: asking for your opinions

Here's another vote for the bilstiens. In the shock world you generally get what you pay for as long as it's designed for your application. If you're really into suspension, there's a lot of excellent options that'll do better then off-the-shelf bilstiens w/o reservoirs though.
