need help with programmers

OK Guys... I'm a newbie in diesel things and i would get some informations about programmers to pull some juice frome my engine... SCT seems to be the preffered one all over forums, right? What i want to know is: How it works when i want to switch progamation (Ex: I'm in economy mode, at a red light ,i suddently want to switch in performance mode ) Do i need to reconnect the programmer or i can get this done almost instantly with my fingertip on those screens like an SCT touch screen exteme... I also read that some guys stack a programmer and a screen etc... Someone can teach me how all this works???? Hope i've been clear in my requirements since i'm a french guy, thanks for your comprehension folks!

Well most people will daily drive in there extreme tunes because they drive so nice but no you cant change them on the fly. It only takes about 2-3 minutes to change tunes though. Also most people either go with mechanical guages or digital guages like an Edge insight or insight cts, they seem to be pretty popular right now.

Re: need help with programmers

if you drive moderate you will see better mpg with a hot tune

less you have to accelerate means less on fuel

Yeah pretty much what these guys above have said. I dont know how much you know about them but it takes a few minutes to switch tunes. After you switch to the newest tune you will have a break in period like 75miles or 20 stoplights. This is for the trans and computer to learn everything. Alot of people have a monitor for gauge purposes and the sct for the tunes. I personally run IDP's Xtreme-Street all the time and have pillar gauges to monitor everything. The X-street tune yields great power and economy but i cant keep my foot out of it. Im addicted to the tune and swear by it.
