05 Injector problem

Is there a write up on the proper way to change an injector here some where? If there is could someone point me in the right direction please? The no.3 injector is bad and I don't want to make the problem worse.

Re: 05 Injector problem

Is there something I absolutely should not do, our local ford dealer went belly up last year, so any help would be appreciated.

Guess I missed this one. No. 3 isn't that bad. It's in the front. What brings you to changing that one injector. Symptoms????

Re: 05 Injector problem

Started running rough, I took it to a local shop they scanned it and said no.1 had no contribution. So I found a guy to change it but that didn't fix it. Then it threw an EGR code so I deleted that it was still running rough so I took it to the closest ford dealer and they told me to change no 3.
As far as symptoms it has a skip at idle, starts hard and smokes on start up and the worst one is when it shifts to fifth it bucks like crazy unless its turning over 2k.

Re: 05 Injector problem

Yup, sounds about right. Anyway, just remember everything gets a new oring. Coat injector orings with fresh oil. Use a 9mm deep socket to install your copper washer on the tip. 19mm socket gets the electrical connector out of the rocker box. Just put the open end over the connector and give it a thump with the palm of your hand. They pop right through. Short ratchet wrenches come in handy to get the valve cover off. The 6.0 bible is full of torque specs. You can find it in the 6.0 tech section. At the top. That's about it. The fun part is getting there. Swapping it is the easy part.

Re: 05 Injector problem

I read somewhere about pulling the glowplug to prevent hydrolocking, but I don't know where I saw it. Does this apply?

Re: 05 Injector problem

I don't, I just pull em quick. Keep raggs handy. Remember to make sure you cup is clean. Check for cracks and such. Don't think you will have that problem, but you never know.
