Heat Bonded Wiring harness HELP !!!

Well I got a little problem with the harness that runs under the windshield in the plastic molded channel that runs across back of motor .This harness has no corrugated tubing to protect it from the heat of Turbo right under it. I had a wire melt and smoke came up through the vent under the wiper arm and of coarse you could smell it also. Problem is that harness with just a thin wrapping on it is so hard and brittle plus all wires are bonded together and I'm trying to separate them to find my wire to blower so yes no AC at the moment. Anyone have an idea on getting the wires to soften up of some way to release them without breaking a bunch in the process. I tried pulling them apart but its taking pieces of vinyl off of the wires.Any ideas I would appreciate.

Try a heat gun, but it's probably already a lost cause.

Re: Heat Bonded Wiring harness HELP !!!

most folks loose or break the retaining pins so they leave the harness flop and it gets way closer to the turbo than it was designed to

if your harness is that brittle i would be looking at the task of replacing it

the powerstroke org has most of the wiring schematics in the tech section
