Turbo whistle louder than normal?

Got an 05 6.0L and I usually push about 20-23# of boost when getting on it. But lately I've been pushing about 30-35# and after about 20# my turbo whistles louder.(no I dont sit and ride it over 20#) I did have a cracked intercooler boot, replaced but still doing it. I'd assume it's an air leak, just not sure where to look?

Re: Turbo whistle louder than normal?

yeah, those whistling pinholes in the uppipe bellows are annoying lol

so it's hitting over 30 psi without an overboost code?

I would put money on the VGT being stuck/sticky/bound up.

You shouldn't ever be getting 35psi of boost......sounds high. I think "normal" is 25-29 when under load.....less when not loaded.

Re: Turbo whistle louder than normal?

Before saying the boost is "high," let's ask @Kshellum if he has any tuning?.......

Well....he said that he "normally pushed 20-23psi of boost".....that's low with a tune, or without one. As far as the 35psi of boost he's getting now...are there any tunes out there that will bump it up that high? I have several IDP tunes.....(towing, street, extreme), and none put out more than 29psi of boost under load. 35psi sounds like a bunch.

Re: Turbo whistle louder than normal?

I guess it could be. I was doing 40 before replacing Injectors, with a fooler.
