FICM Question

Alright fellas,
So my FICM was showing lower than 48V and has been for some time now (a few months). I finally bought a new one and had it put in yesterday.
Before replacing, the engine ran very rough for about 5-7 minutes before smoothing out.. only on the first crank of the day (cold start)
Well, this morning I cranked it first crank of the day and it still idled a little rough.. only for about fifteen seconds though and then quickly smoothed out.

I was wondering if this is normal to still see a slight rough idle on cold starts?
Thanks

Re: FICM Question

It could be stiction in the injectors.

Re: FICM Question

well sounds like you got a massive improvement. 5-7 minutes down to 15 seconds.
how many miles? could definitely be some injector stiction. not a bad thing, it happens over time. what oil do you use? try a 5w40 full synthetic if you are not already using one. also add some Rev-x into it. should clear right up.

Re: FICM Question

Yes, how many miles? Original injectors? Fuel and oil additives help if you are dealing with stiction.

Re: FICM Question

Around 72k miles.
Original injectors.
It doesn't bother me, like I said.. it smooths out VERY quickly. Almost immediately after crank. I was just wondering if it's something I should be worried about.
I use dieselkleen additives every few tank fillups.

Re: FICM Question

Does sound like stiction. Try the Rev-X or Archoil 9100. Works wonders for most.

Re: FICM Question

Wow, it's still a baby. Yea, I've had good luck too with Archoil 9100. I use DieselKleen every tank. White bottle in the winter (almost never drive in the winter though) and the silver bottle in the summer.

Re: FICM Question

I second the archoil 9100 helped me tremendously with injector stiction.
