No auto 4x4

I have an automatic lariat with the 4x4 switch on the dash. When I switch it to 4x4, it does not engage the front at all. If I get out and lock the hubs, everything works fine. Any suggestions?

Re: No auto 4x4

they are vacuum actuated. do you hear anything when you turn the switch? when were your balljoints changed last? the axle seals tend to dry out / crack causing a leak. not allowing them to lock automatically

Re: No auto 4x4

Turn on the vents to full blast, turn on 4x4, if the vents switch to the defrost you have a vacuum leak. You have to check the lines to find it or you can use a drill bit driver to plug a certain hole that i cant remember to make them perma manual

Re: No auto 4x4

if the vacuum doesn't work they are "perma manual" lol

common for the ESOF solenoid to fail along with the mentioned lines and knuckle seals
