Weird 6.0 problems

I have a 2005 6.0 F250 automatic 4WD. Had problems with long starts then the truck started acting fine. Then out of the blue truck stalled while slowing down at intersection tried restarting wouldn't start. Tore down to the pump STC was very loose, replaced with one piece fitting kit with new gaskets and ipr screen put back together truck started right up. Next day drove halfway to work realized I forgot something at home drove back home and let truck idle in driveway while I ran in. I jumped in truck drove down the street bout four miles then noticed power loss and truck stalled slowing down for same red light as last time. Had to be towed home again. Went out to cycle oil by just turning truck over started then after 10 -15 seconds then it died and would not start back up. About every day for two weeks tried to replicate with no joy. Went out tonight to turn it over and it started. Let idle for about and hour moved it back and forth about 15 feet each way, reved on it a little bit while monitoring FICM Sync 1 FICM C 48 ICP 580 at idle with ipr about 20%. Reved it up to 2k rpm icp went to 980 to 1000 psi with ipr at 35%. All good so far so I thought well let's see if she will crank back up if I turn her off no joy!!!!! Icp won't go above 108 ipr 83-84% good sync and good FICM V 48. Thought hey maybe a bad icp unplugged it and pressure on gauge goes to 600 psi with 83-84% ipr no start. I am scratching my head and about to grenade this truck please help:-(

Re: Weird 6.0 problems

You stated that you changed the ipr screen, was there a hole in the screen? If so there could be debris in the ipr causing it to stick open at times. If the ipr is good I would suspect a stand pipe/port plug issue or top ring on injector is blown out. You need to do an air test to pin point where the leak is coming from, I'm sure if you do a search you can find how to do it.

Re: Weird 6.0 problems

No there was no whole or damage to ipr screen just changed the orings and screen on ipr as a precaution. I kinda leaning toward the dummy plugs/ stand pipe my self, but it should start daily just not after its hot right?

Usually with a high pressure oil leak it will start cold but not when its hot, so yes it should start for you if its cold.
