2004 6.0 Question

Im thinking about buying a 2004 6.0 thats completely stock with 183,000 miles on it. Is 2004 an ok year for the 6 liter? I plan on having it bulletproofed in a couple months but is an 04 more money than what its worth?

That's not bad. Changing fluids and filters at suggested interval's is crucial to keeping these motors trouble free. My neighbor has an 03 with a 6.0 that he bought new that has never had anything happen to it but a hpo leak and a couple of sticking injectors. The truck has been well maintained.

You go from around 50 lbs. of fuel pressure to 60 lbs. The injectors work better with the higher pressure.

Re: 2004 6.0 Question

Shortly after the release of the 6.0 Ford Motor Company sent out a TSB stating to change the fuel pressure regulator spring.

Re: 2004 6.0 Question

The old springs get weak over time as well and the higher the pressure the lower the chance of having injectors go bad. It's the cheapest upgrade that's a must in my opinion on these motors. Sounds like a good price to me as well. Good luck.
