prices for up pipes and egr delete

just wanting to see what yall think about these prices im paying. truck is currently in the shop getting new up pipes put in bc they were cracked and leaking exhaust fumes into the cab, and while the mechanic is in there he said he would do a egr delete for half price($350 normally $700). $1100 for the up pipes and 350 for egr so around $1450 for all, how does this sound to yall? he said the pipes themselves are around $550. just looking for opinions to see if i got ripped

Re: prices for up pipes and egr delete

my .02 is that you got seriously ripped on the up-pipes leaking! That is a relatively common problem and there are people on a few forums that actually re-weld new flex joints in your y-pipe that are better than factory for under $200. The delete, however isn't too badly priced. Just out of curiosity, why did you choose to let a shop fix it?

Re: prices for up pipes and egr delete

I bought a built set of uppipes for less than what he says they cost, and I assume he's putting a factory set back in there. Just sayin....$250 is what I paid for mine if I recall correctly. If he went to Ford and bought the pipes, they probably did cost $550.

Thats how much the pipes cost at ford, and Alldata shoulds 5-6 hours labor to change them. So, that sounds about right @ 100/hr (which most shops in my area are).

Wonderful. They are ford factory up pipes, and I'm not doing it myself bc Im not mechanically inclined. Everything he's doing has a 2yr warranty on it at least. And he does do great work I've seen/heard from friends. And he said its 5-6 hrs of labor at $80/hr. Oh well. I've also got a bad #3 injector and #8 glow plug but that will be waiting until it has to be fixed thanks to no job and being in school simultaneously.
