high mile 6.0

Hey wanted some thoughts. I have a tuned 6.0 with new heads and studded. Also put sinister upgraded oil cooler on it as well as a delete kit. New radiator water pump and thermostat also. I have 276000 miles on this daily driver and if I can make 300k I'll be tickled. My question is this would I be better off buying a new truck or putting a new engine and transmission in my old truck? It is a 2005 and is super clean. I think I can get a new block and salvage my new heads and the upper end of my engine that has been upgraded and new. Or am I just waiting my time? The 15000 or so still would be cheaper than 50 to 70 K for a new truck. Shoot some ideas my way please! Thanks

No reason for a new engine at all. Drive it the way it is unless your dead set on a cummins conversion or something. You might get 500K out of it you never know.

True. And I have considered the cummins as well. I'm in no hurry. The truck is running strong and has not used a drop of oil. Been a reliable rig.

Well except when the egr cooler went and took my head gaskets with it. Lol. That's when I put the upgraded cooler and delete kits and arp studded my performance heads that I had put on. Also had the bottom end checked out and they said it looked fine. Couldn't tell it had 200k on it by looking. Thanks for the reply!

They say the bottom end is bullet proof, unless you have an injector start dumping fuel and cause it to hydrolock, can bend a rod with that situation .

Re: high mile 6.0

Ya that's what I worried about when we took the pan off. All looked good and the cylinder walls looked good and so did the Pistons. The heads were cracked when we sent them to be checked during the head gasket repair that's how I ended up with the wagner heads. It's been a great truck with all that do e and the sct tuner on it. I sure hope it goes another few 100k!
