Cannot get #8 injector to work

I have a late build 6.0 with #8 injector not firing. Been replaced twice to no avail. Cannot find the problem. My only guess at this point is the wiring harness is bad. FICM has even been replaced. Where to turn , please help.

Re: Cannot get #8 injector to work

My guess is a wiring issue....either bad wiring in the injector harness, broken connector where it attaches to the injector on the rocker box, etc. You could pull your harness and look it over good for chafing...or even dig deeper and start unwrapping the loom there around #8 connector. The harness is available new, so that's a route you can take as well...never priced it out though.

Re: Cannot get #8 injector to work

You should be able to do some troubleshooting with the buzz test and swap the plug with a cylinder next to it and see if the problem follows. If you have been buying good injectors, I would agree it's probably the harness.

There are a couple different FICM-Injector harnesses. They run from $175-$225 from a good dealer.

Re: Cannot get #8 injector to work

Swapping plugs to another injector is a good idea, but if I remember correct, there isn't enough slack in the harness to swap 6 and 8.

Swapping plugs rules out or confirms wiring/connector issue. If you switch them, and the dead injector moves to 6, then it's confirmed. Not really a good idea to run the truck with plugs swapped though, so you need a quality scanner to test the swap.

Re: Cannot get #8 injector to work

It could be compression related, do you have inj. codes? You can unplug ficm relay and turn the engine over, if its not a constant speed/sound then I would suspect compression issues.

I have an auto enginuity scanner and continued to throw #8 injector code and even disabling the injectors all worked except 8.

Re: Cannot get #8 injector to work

Well it turns out that there was a bent pin on the FICM got it straight and thankfully zero codes after putting in a new injector.
