6.0 headgaskets

I have read to always use oem headgaskets. Called ford and they are 200 bucks per side and comes with bolts. The local parts store has them for 59 per side just the gasket. I do not need the stock bolts I'm installing arp headstuds. The parts store carries felpro gaskets and I was wondering if they was the same as fords.

No, but Victor Reinz (Mahle) Black Diamonds are. Less expensive and don't come with bolts.

Re: 6.0 headgaskets

I would stick with OEM gaskets. Take it from someone that's had both. I wanna say there was a vendor on here that could get the gaskets only.... can remember who off hand.

Re: 6.0 headgaskets

I just put black diamonds in my truck. The construction of the OEM and this gasket are 100% identical minus the color of the sealant. They can be bought for about 65$ each. They are HUGE difference from black onyx. These black diamond gaskets are even made in the same plant as the OEM gaskets. Ford does not actually make the gaskets.

Like stated, the OEMs come with new standpipes as well.

Re: 6.0 headgaskets

just me but I prefer OEM, especially for a head gasket. made in the same plant doesn't mean identical. look at the mazda tribute and ford escape. same plant, similar but not the exact same. for the $100 more for reassurance.. id do OEM.

Re: 6.0 headgaskets

I had both the OEM and the black diamond side by side and they are exactly the same thickness and construction. I know many prefer OEM, and i was the same way until i saw this gasket. The only difference is the sealant color.

Re: 6.0 headgaskets

I haven't had an issue with a set of BD gaskets yet. They are in my truck now and I will put another set in it when I build the motor this winter
