I was driving my 06 F350 dually home and everything was running great. I was coming up to a red light and when I let off the throttle I heard a pop and then the truck started idling bad, knocking and pouring quite a bit of white smoke out of the tailpipe. I limped home with it but I noticed when I gave it gas the noise would go away and the truck ran pretty decent. I pulled the P0281 #7 Contribution code. Is fuel knock really that loud or do yall think I have bigger problems. I am not off work until Friday to take it apart so I was hoping to get some input before then. The truck sounds like the old 6.9 diesel when it is idling. Some background on the truck: 92K miles, Magnaflow 4 inch exhaust, EGR delete, 03 turbo, S&B Intake, Elite Insanity tune, Head studs, 10" Fabtech lift, 22.5 semi conversion. If it is an injector should I just replace the one or would I be better off upgrading to bigger injectors? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like the injector needs pulled honestly sounds like a tip broke. Possibly the head I've had quite a few now with tips breaking off. 7-8 have been #7 sadly

Finally got a chance to look at it. The bolt for the injector hold down had loosened up and the injector had come up a little causing the O-rings on the injector to bust. Replaced the injector and the truck runs like new.
