heating/AC blower

Everyone,
Have a question concerning my heating/AC blower. My blower comes on but seems that on high the blower is barely moving any air. There is an aftermarket blower on the unit that I suspect is the culpret. Plan on pulling it out and checking the blower for switching to different speeds. I suspect it is not switching to high. Read about the resistor being bad, thinking about replacing for good measure. My hope is it that this motor they (previous owner) installed is the problem. Looks like it may be off of another ford vehicle. My experience with ford AC/heat systems normally blow your head off your shoulders. Any advice?
Thanks

Re: heating/AC blower

I had a 99 F350 that got like that and discovered that a plastic bag had been sucked up into the air pickup side. Once it was removed it blew like normal. hope yours is as simple to fix as mine was!

Re: heating/AC blower

If everything else checks out, pull the blower motor out, and take a look back inside the housing, at the heater core. Use a flashlight and mirror. The fins will get completely packed up with dirt, and will turn to mud, resulting in very poor air flow.

Usually if the blower motor resistor is bad, only one speed works.

Re: heating/AC blower

Does it blow normal on every other setting?!?! If it does, and is only weak on 1 setting, it's your blower motor resistor pack.

Re: heating/AC blower

Checked blower and all seems to work well. I have a cover off that may be causing the lack of air out of the vents. I will replace cover and report back.
