Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

So I am in need to replace the Oil Cooler and EGR Cooler on my 05'. I know its hard to believe but my truck is still under a Ford ESP plan until September of this year.

Here is what I want to know; Has Ford updated either of these parts to improve them? I have read that the oil cooler is ok, but not sure about the EGR cooler. I dont want them to put in another ####ty one...

I already have a Sinister Coolant Filter system installed.

Any comments or advice will be appreciated.

Re: Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

what i did when mine was under warranty was i handed the dealer a Bulletproof EGR cooler ( keeps it legit ) I paid for out of pocket for them to install

I also got the to do the heads and I handed them ARP studs to use but you might not get that lucky

the oil cooler is about the same and is still a better coolant filter than an oil cooler so despite having the bypass filter your still at high risk or a reclog since the bypass is well a bypass and as soon as it is the path of more resistance it is bypassed ;-)

Re: Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

Decided to get a new EGR from AFE since a buddy of mine works there.

Plan of attack -

Replace Oil Cooler, HPOP fitting update and new screen, AFE EGR Cooler (Can't do delete in CA), Blue Spring Update, Full coolant flush and install Fumoto Valves in block plugs, change coolant filter, Replace with Zerex ZED1 EC1 coolant

$$$

The oil cooler was updated in the latter half of 04. It went from 10 coolant flews and 11 oil flews to 11 coolant flews and 11 oil flews. The square 03 egr cooler was a better design than the round one they later released.

Re: Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

You've got it backwards. Square was the later, worse design. The round cooler was much more reliable. It was on early 03 models only.

Re: Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

The early 03 models had the best egr coolers, they were round. Everything after that was square.

Re: Oil Cooler/EGR Cooler

If they had stuck that oil cooler in front of the radiator like BPD that would have changed history for the 6.0, huh
