Is it odd?

Is it odd that my early 04 6.0 doesn't have exhaust manifold gaskets?
As long as Ive had the truck it never has had them? Are the necessary?
Ive noticed no exhaust leaks of any sort in any portion of the system....

Re: Is it odd?

My 05 had none when I pulled the heads. Put a set on when I put it back together though.

Re: Is it odd?

7.3's didn't come with gaskets either, but you can buy gaskets for both engines from the dealer.

Re: Is it odd?

Are gaskets a necessity though? Ive had no exhaust leaks from the system and Ive pulled it apart twice now....

Re: Is it odd?

Well if they aren't coming with them from the factory, then I'd say they aren't a "necessity". I put a set on mine because they are cheap, and it's a place that "can" leak, and while the heads were off and easily accessible, figured why not. Much easier than trying to do it through the wheel well.
