6.0 EGT problems

At an idle when I first start my truck the EGT's sit around 1400. When driving truck makes 24lbs of boost and WOT but the EGT's instantly hit 2000. Even if little throttle is applied the EGT's will climb well over 1600. Could this be a boost leak or a wastegate/ turbo issue. Truck has 4in down pipe back and a cold air ram air intake also 4 inch. The EGT probe is mounted on driver side manifold and installed by ATS. The chip is an edge cts with attitude. Any ideas I'm stuck

Re: 6.0 EGT problems

How long as it been doing this.. based on the numbers and the fact the engine hasn't dropped a head gasket yet.. i would wonder if your pyrometer is fubar. I have had a CAC boot blow off on the highway and my EGT dont exceed 1300 (sure they would climb if i let them)... Double check connections etc..

At idle I don't know how you could ever get temp like that! Your gauge is lying.

At idle you should be a lot closer to 400. What gauge are you using?
What does it read if you just turn the key on (don't start) after it's been sitting overnight? It should read ambient air temp. Does it?

Re: 6.0 EGT problems

It's a bad probe, I've had this happen to me aswell. Also look into ditching the edge and getting an sct.

Yeah at idle my egt's don't even register 400. I have to press the pedal to even get to 400
