starter issue

I just put a motor in a buddies 05 truck & we are having a problem with the starter hitting the flywheel. any ideas would be great maybe we missed a spacer plate between the starter & the block?. called local dealership & they say there is not a spacer between there. any help would be great

You must have missed the spacer, there is one that goes between the flywheel and crank, it doesn't look like there is one, but it's there. You can pull the transmission out to put it in.

there was no spacer between the flexplate & crank. dealership says they don't list a spacer for between there either.

There is a spacer, believe me, it's about a 1/4" thick.
