2005 6.0 stutter

Im 99% sure this is a stiction issue, but here's the story.

2005 f250
6.0
Blue spring upgrade
Egr delete
5" exhaust
Aftermarket air intake
sct tunes

Typical 6.0 cold start rattle / cold hesitation / cold stutter until the truck is warmed up.

Had 60hp SCT tow tune on it, and truck would stutter in the higher rpm range under WOT.

New Motorcraft filters, 10w30, fresh fuel, hotshots secret fuel & oil additives.

Truck starts better. Fuel economy is lightyears ahead of where we were at. Truck still stutters under WOT on top end.

So, I removed the sct tunes and back to stock.

Here's where Im confused.

The truck runs worse now. Stutters through out the rpm band. Warm, cold...doesn't matter.

Ideas?

I agree with Gary, it sounds like an injector problem. You might also try cleaning the EBP tube. Mine had a stutter on the top end when it was gummed up.

Checked your FP lately? Pressure drops at wot with stock pumps....if your fuel pressure is low to start with, or you have a weak pump, it'll starve for fuel at wot. Just an idea...

Absolutely. Equipment to test should be here Monday. Hence why I pulled the SCT tunes thinking maybe stock would have less of a fuel demand?

Good deal. I'm sure you already know, but if it is stiction, a 5w oil will make it much happier than that 10w30. I tried 10w30 in mine before I had the injectors rebuilt. Truck did NOT like that stuff!

Ever find a set of heads like you were looking for?

Nope. Still looking for a set of heads. Had the truck scanned tonight. All parameters check out aok. 48v ficm, ok ipr, etc etc.

So we check fuel pressure next.

Something I want to add to ask opinion on...

Even after driving around volts only measure 13.2 to 13.3.

And, no matter how long or hard you run the truck the hottest it will get is 178 deg. Is this bad?
