6.0 want stay running till throttle

Guys,Sorry mean will not stay running
Have a 6.0 that I am having trouble running. Starts fine but will not stay running till a throttle up a couple of times. I have seen a crack in the fuel filter cap. There is no leaking but thought maybe it looses pressure while it sits. Any thoughts??

Any codes?? Does it have a hard time staying running all the time? Next time before you start it, cycle the key 3 times in case the system lost fuel pressure and see if that helps. Then I think it is time to look into a new cap to start eliminating possibilities.

Re: 6.0 want stay running till throttle

Actually just re read your post. I'd start by changing the filter cap. Can't say for sure it's the problem, but I've dealt with otr trucks where a fuel line rubbed on the frame rail, truck wouldn't idle for ####, but anything above idle was fine.

Re: 6.0 want stay running till throttle

No codes. This truck has a history. Hpop, then something fell in cylinder 5 combustion chamber, bent valves and buggered piston. Head work, ARP studs. putting engine back in Torque converter got jammed. Messed up tranny. Rebuilt tranny, started up and vibrating in OD. Thought tranny was bad. AE pointed to #3 injector. Checked and it was disconnected. Reconnected and she runs like a champ. Just have this issue of if she has sit for long period of time, she will fire then die, fire then die, etc. Until I give it throttle she will do this. Never saw how long she would do it if I kept starting without throttle. I am thinking the cap is allowing the fuel to drain/leave what ever it is doing and until it builds back up it does this. I will have to try cycling the key before starting. Appreciate the help. Love my truck.
