coolant puking/ tranny problems

2005 f350 with a few mods. sinster powermaxx stage one turbo, coolant filter, charge pipes, intake elbow, intake, exhaust, egde tuner, 58v FICM, headstuds with ford gaskets.

First, I am trying to figure out why I still push out coolant when I am wide open on my truck. I would like to run my truck down the track when I put bigger injectors in it but I need to find out why I still shove coolant out. I noticed while driving down the road and punch it that my temps drop down to 160-170 then after 30 sec it jumps way up to 220. As soon as i let off you hear the fan in its cycle and coolant temp drop to 200-210ish. Does anyone have any idea that might cause that.

Second, My tranny doesn't shift into overdrive at full throttle down the track. All gears shift just fine I just need my over drive to reach my higher speeds towards the end of the quarter mile. Is the motor putting down to much for the stock trans or T converter?

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. All I want is a quick one ton. I will be moving to hawaii here soon so I will be able to fork some money over time. I plan on having an ATS tranny and converter eventually.

The trans will shift to overdrive when it reaches the right speed no matter how much power your engine is producing. What RPM/MPH are you at when you want it to shift?

Re: coolant puking/ tranny problems

you would be wise to put a PSI gauge on the coolant system and do some WOT runs
I think you have some HG issues

do you have custom tunes on the truck ? are you monitoring RPM and lockup ?

Ditch the Edge tuner and see if the trans still shifts the same.

Re: coolant puking/ tranny problems

Mark: I would like it to shift at WOT around 3k but it wont shift and when i let off it falls into 4th and RPS slam to 4k.

Zmann: where would I get a cap to test the PSI at?

6speedSD: It never did this until I put the new turbo and FICM upgrades on it. Honestly I love my EDGE but I am now having these problems.

As of this morning I noticed I am having an injector stick when I am at start up. ONce the motor gets warm it idles just fine. When I am driving I have no problems I believe. I feel as if the truck is underpowered so I believe my injectors will need to be replaced soon.

The stock program won't shift at 3k. It's programmed to shift at about 3800 RPM. If you want it to shift sooner you need someone to write a custom tune.

Agree mine blew up on me and created a lot of issues you will be much happier with SCT and custom tunes it blows the edge away I have had both. They will custom build your tunes to your exact turbo, transmission and all upgrades far superior to the edge. Also can adjust shift points on SCT programmer which could fix your transmission issues possibly.
