LPOP not priming!! help!!

okay so I have a 2005 f550 here I just did head gaskets studs oil cooler and egr cooler, everything is together I double checked all connections electrical mechanical and liquid. all fluids are properly filled. I have a manual gauge fitted into where the oil pressure sensor goes in the top of the oil cooler housing... I have atleast 3 minutes of cranking time on this motor and this gauge is not even moving a hair. I did fill the reservoir when I had the oil cooler out but it did not show any icp on my scanner with the ipr all the way to 85% no other codes or issued according to the data I was collecting through my scanner. how do I go aboud diagnosing the low pressure system?? THANKS ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Re: LPOP not priming!! help!!

I just did a little bit of reading and I checked the regulating relief valve on the front cover and it was in good condition and was dripping out fresh oil as I pulled it out. and it had oil coming out after cranking it for only a second or two.
so I put that back together.

Re: LPOP not priming!! help!!

How many miles on the truck on my dad's truck we had to replace the lpop at 300,000 miles. We found the problem by taking the oil filter out and it wouldn't fill the houseing with oil when cranking the engine

65xxx on the truck, original engine. I had the oil filtercap off just now while cranking.. the pump is flowing because its all fresh oil in there but when I cranked it with it off it was just perculating air bubbles and not filling it.

When you say oil cooler do you mean factory or the relocated one?

Re: LPOP not priming!! help!!

They have trouble priming by themselves occasionally I put some wheel bearing grease between the gerotor inner and outer gears... you can also try putting it in the pressyre relief port... the grease doesnt hurt anything

When you remove the oil filter the filter releases a button and lets the oil drain down, I don't think it will flow oil in the housing with the filter removed, (because of the button being up) but I never tried to do it.

you have to grease them when you take them apart otherwise you will smoke the pump, but he didnt take it apart so most likely he has a wiped pump because some crud dropped in the oil while all that work was being done, it seems to be common practice on a 6.0
