05 6.0 rough idle at start up

05 6.0 with 57k miles. All stock except blue spring and 6.4 banjo bolts. Truck has recently started a rough idle issue. About 50% of the time it cranks and fires right off. The other 50% it will start and slowly climb to idle within 15-20 seconds. Haven't noticed a trend yet. It may happen after sitting over night or after only being shut off for an hour. Haven't had any issues with cold starts this winter. Any suggestions would be a help. Thanks.

Re: 05 6.0 rough idle at start up

Most likely you have a injector stiction issue. There are some additives that claim to help, but the real fix is to replace the problem injector with a MOTORCRAFT injector.

Re: 05 6.0 rough idle at start up

At first I thought it was due to the temperature, but the problem has persisted into the summer. I noticed that I am having trouble producing boost for the first couple of miles. I just did the turbo cleaning procedure and while it was coked up, I am still having the same issues. I am not seeing any white smoke, just a rough idle and a seroius lack of power for the first couple of miles. I am at a lost!!!

Try archoil ar9100 or rev x on a fresh oil change just might work. Sounds like stiction.

You should be getting a code. Do you have a reader to check for codes? The Check Engine Light will not always come on.

Bad injectors don't always pull codes. You need to run a contribution test. It will pen point which injectors are giving you problems. If it were me I would replace all the injectors if you find a couple running low contribution..the rest if if them are on the way out especially if it's a stiction issue.

Your turbo wont spool like it should because your injectors arent firing or firing right, with no combustion no heat and turbos need heat
