Mornings no crank no start

For the past few mornings my 04 Ford F250 6 liter would not crank, then a few hours later after trying it would finally crank and start. I thought maybe where it was cold so i left it plugged in over night and still same thing. I can drive it all day, shut it off and start with no problem but only in the mornings do i have this issue. the usual lights on dash come on, fuel pump sound etc. but when i try to turn it over, i get nothing. I checked with my scan gauge the ICP, FMP, IPR, and it's percentage and all is as it should be according to another post i found on here. Anyone had this problem in the past or seen it before with a possible fix. Oh and the starter is less than a year old.

Thanks.

You say you get nothing... Meaning it turns over but doesn't fire, or it won't even turn over?

So if it's really cold, it won't even turn over, but if you wait a little while, it will? That's odd. How cold are we talking about with outside temps?

Re: Mornings no crank no start

approx -10 degrees C (14 F). But earlier in the year when it was -20 and colder, i had no problems. with and without it plugged in. I am stumped. I came back from a 10 day vacation, i got in and it started like a charm but it wasn't until the next morning i started getting this issue. The only thing i found online close to this problem was other people able to start it in Neutral only and not park, which was an easy fix with some loctite and tighten a screw under shifter. But mine doesn't even start in Neutral. I tried tapping the starter, solenoid, nothing. I hope i am not the first to discover yet another 6.0 issue :S

Re: Mornings no crank no start

I was going to mention taking the starter off again and have it tested. Just because it's a only a year old doesn't mean it isn't hanging up. I'm not certain that's your issue, but it's free to do.

Re: Mornings no crank no start

Thanks 6speed. I only bought the truck 2 months ago. My plan was to use it until the weather gets better here then do the EGR delete, oil cooler, coolant filter, new fluids, etc. looks like i have to add the starting issue to the list that's all lol.

Well I'm not saying that's your problem. Just giving you something easy and cheap to try.

Re: Mornings no crank no start

Check for power at the starter. It could be something as simple as the signal wire being loose. It's kinda odd that letting it sit with out doing anything will cause it to work again.
