PCM ?

How specific are PCM's my mechanic is saying mine is the root of a recent no start situation on my 2004 with a February production date. He was able to find a PCM out of an 05 reprogram it and get it running but no gauges on the dash would work so he found one for a 2003 reprogrammed it and now its back to no start. So I guess my question is ho specific are the PCM's and is he just not trying to find the right one.

Yes, I've never seen one fail either. You sure he didn't mean the FICM?

Re: PCM ?

Drove it on a Saturday and wouldn't start Sunday morning had it towed in and my guy has just been stumped he said he pulled about 20 codes off it 3/4 of them disappeared when he tried to use a PCM off a 2005 the FICM is only about 2 months old and was a half shell swap from FICMUSA.com I've done about half a days research trying to find PCM's and it seems they are very specific and found a ton on eBay but just wanted to ask.

Re: PCM ?

If you partially drained the batteries cranking it trying to start it that can throw codes from having low power.
