2005 ford f250 no start

Have a 2005 ford f250 6.0. Was driving one day and it shut off and would not restart. Only showed about 34-40 psi on hpop. Replaced the IPR and updated the STC and now still will not start. Oil pressure gauge would not move. And I don't have my computer to check the hpop will get that tomorrow. Any help would be great thanks

Could be a dummy plug. I just pulled this out of a 2006 with 86k miles lastnight

Re: 2005 ford f250 no start

was the ipr screen torn or clogged? if torn, means metal went through it. pump could be junk. unplug the icp sensor. try and start. ecm has a default setting and the engine will start with it unplugged just wont have any power. this will tell u the icp sensor is bad. full spool your ipr. take and put 12v. to the ipr. get yourself an ipr connector from either a ford or international dealer. one side of ipr connector is power and the other side is ground. put it on your battery posts. try and start. if it starts u have a major icp leak. u can isolate leaks but removing the icp sensor and installing a boss fitting and apply 120psi shop air and listen for a leak. if you hear a leak on the passenger side, its probably a head to case tube. but this only checks from the pump to the passenger side. hopefully its not a branch tube. that requires the engine to be removed form truck and the engine to be completely torn down. if no leak heard on passenger side, its either a leak at pump, drivers side head to case tube or branch tube. your icp should read 600+ while cranking. full spool will read about 2,000+. hope this is helpful

Since you have an 05, its pretty easy to pressure check the high pressure oil system. You need a M12X1.5 to 1/4NPT fitting. I got mine at the local Parker store. Remove your ICP sensor and put that fitting in its place and run an air hose to the fitting and pressurize to 100psi or so and listen for leaks. That should help you hunt it down.

Well it started after charging the battiers. Stills seems to be a longer start time. It runs good better then before. Seems good just don't understand why it takes longer to crank

Because you probably have a ICP leak and like [email protected] said you have to find the leak. It's not going away, it's only going to get worse.

Re: 2005 ford f250 no start

your hard starts could also be because you just had the pump out. it will usually take a day or two of driving to work all the air out, and the hard starts go away. If you find after a couple days that you still have the hard start issue, then I would go hunting for leaks again.

completley stock truck...just a simple cat back system....and maybe a few other odds and ends
