Red face 5r110

Ok is the direct drive solenoid and the 3-5 shift solenoid in fact the same one? Or are they 2 different ones? Question 2 is which one is the epc solenoid and what does it do? And what does the tcc do also. Thanks for any info.

Re: 5r110

So if I'm reading this correct, and please correct me if I'm wrong, 1-2 is low-reverse, 2-3 intermediate, 3-5 direct drive, 5-6 overdrive?

tiny. It's not what size but what you do with it.

Re: 5r110

Not quite.

The 1-2 shift is done by the overdrive solenoid. The 2-3 is done by the overdrive solenoid AND the intermediate solenoid. The 3-5 is done by the intermediate solenoid AND the direct solenoid. The 5-6 is done by the overdrive solenoid.

Ok thanks, sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me specially when I don't know exactly how something works.

Re: 5r110

I've got a couple bad solenoids and I'm going to pull the pan one day this week so I thought I might ask which did what and so on. However I'm bad about just starting to pull engines apart but the rotating assembly is pretty much the same concept. Transmissions I don't trust myself on as much.
