need oil cooler bypass valve

Little history first, had coolant flush done, filter installed and elc coolant done over a year ago. Just got head gaskets done and changed oil cooler while in there because i had a 19 degree delta. Got truck all together but the delta is still 19 degrees. Only thing i can think is that the oil cooler bypass valve is opening. Ive looked for hours but can find the part and how to replace it. I think its just pulling oil filter then removing two torx holding the valve and spring in place but just wanted to be sure. BUT I still cant find the part. Anyone have any ideas? I would even like to get a used one as long as its not beat up.

Re: need oil cooler bypass valve

It's the whole upper housing/ cover to the oil cooler. I don't think they sell just that small part.

Re: need oil cooler bypass valve

Ect 174 eot 193 are my temps. One thing i did notice was i could get eot up to 207 then within a few minutes it would come down to 193.

I was afraid that it wasnt sold seperate. 180$ part to rob a 5$ part off it.

Your engine oil temp sounds fine , your coolant temp though is a lot lower than normal . Mine both always run in the 190's when its warm outside .

Re: need oil cooler bypass valve

Sounds like your t-stat is sticking. Only time I've personally seen ECT temps that low is when that happens.

Re: need oil cooler bypass valve

I'd swap out the Tstat first....easy and cheap.

Re: need oil cooler bypass valve

EOT shouldn't go up with a working t-stat, correct?? Or am I thinking about this wrong?
