HELP HELP HELP

Have a 2004 F350 with only 57k miles. Last weekend I towed my camper from Baltimore to Virginia problem free. After dropping the camper I ran out to get some supplies. As i pulled out of a parking lot my truck began to run like crap. Sluggish, RPM's really wouldnt go up past 1500, kinda felt like a dead miss. Stopped at Napa and bought fuel filters, replaced both and it ran perfect. Drove 2 hours back home empty and it ran great. It sat for a week, went out today and started it, it had the same dead miss, ran like crap. It seemed real lopey, no smoke, no CEL. Went and picked up a set of Motorcraft filters. Changed them again, didnt see any visual dirt, discoloraton or blockage. Again, it cleared right up, ran like new. Come home and parked, ate dinner, went out for a test drive and same BS again. The truck sits a lot, in my garage. I am puzzled here. Any ideas?????

Also, the truck is bone stock besides a straight piped exhaust.

Re: HELP HELP HELP

if it is an "early 04" (basically an 03)...I would bet on an icp sensor wigging out on you. in that case it would give you this scenario randomley and the fuel filter changes helping would be just a coincidence.

Re: HELP HELP HELP

the part is less than 200 bucks. probably around 180. im not positive but 5/04 is probably early enough to be the early style engine. that a good thing cuz they are the good ones in a lot of ways! the bad news is that if its an 03 type engine, the icp sensor is not fun to change. its not impossible, just not fun. if it is an early engijne, the icp sensor is back behind the ipr, in the pump cover. if its a late o4, the icp is in sticking through the passenger valve cover near the glow plug module.

Re: HELP HELP HELP

Most codes do not turn the CEL on, only emission related and misfires above a certain percentage turn the CEL on.
