High pitch noise at idle

I have a high pitch noise that is intermittent when idling. I cant tell if its a pulley or even the turbo. I am totally new to owning a diesel and I have an 05 F-250 6.0. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Re: High pitch noise at idle

Take ur belt off and spin all your pullys. If thatss not it then pull ur intake boot off the turbo and check for play in the shaft could be bad bearings.

Re: High pitch noise at idle

How many miles? I just had a similar noise (I likened mine to birds chirping or squealing). Took my serpentine belt off and, low and behold, it was the idler pulley bearing. To a of t. play in it. You can replace the bearing (p/n 203FF) or I just replaced the entire pulley and wheel. While you're at it, might as well replace the belt too. Good luck!

Re: High pitch noise at idle

O.p., you could also have a pre turbo exhaust leak, but definitely check everything else listed too
