First Diesel ever need some help

I bought an 03 f250 6.0L. It has 170,000 miles on it and the seller claims it has an egr delete and replaced the head bolts. Also I'm looking for a tuner any suggestions are welcome.

I'm new here as well, but from what I've been reading go with SCT and a custom tune.

Welcome!

SCT custom tuning is the best way to go for your 6.0... That is the simple choice. Your hard decision is who to do the custom tunes. I prefer either innovative or Vivian from quick tricks but there is quite a few different people doing tunes and they all run different depends on your own preference! Hope this helps

I would look and see to make sure your dealer wasnt blowing smoke up your butt with the head studs, sct tunning is what i like with the looney tunes from vivian whole new truck man. Stay on top of your maintenance and she will keep running for a good long time. Welcome to the nation man

2003 F250 6.0, 4" on Pro Comp 35's, Twin Grand rock 6" mitre cuts set to 2" above cab, Dyno Mat cab, SCT X4, Blue spring, CCV mod, Delta tool box. And it is NEVER CLEAN

I dont walk this way because of the wounds I have suffered in the line of duty, but because my balls are just that big!

Studs are easy to see look on the passenger side lower front of the head is it a bolt or a stud with a nut in it? Check behind the intake elbow is your egr valve there or is it a block off plate? The egr cooler itself is kinda hard to see but it runs down the passenger side of the intake manifold

I would stay away from Vivian's tunes. Go with Drew @ Back Road Performance.

Just because it has the EGR valve still there, doesn't mean it doesn't already have the EGR deleted. If a dealer sells a truck with an EGR delete, they'll usually slap a valve back on there because they claim they can't sell it without emissions equipment intact. You need to get up top and visually look to see if the cooler is MIA.

Studs or stock TTY bolts.... easy to figure out as stated above. See if the head has a bolt or a stud with a nut. Easiest place to look is under your degas tank, front of the head.

And I'll give my vote to custom tunes from Eric at Innovative. I've tried his and Matt's from Gearhead and for me personally, the truck likes Eric's much more.
