Birds under the hood!!!

Got me some chirping birds under the hood so I've decided to replace the idler, tensioner pulleys, and belt - that way the only whine I hear is that of the turbo. From what I have researched, it's usually one of the two pulleys that causes the chirping. And when one goes bad, the other isn't far behind. So while I'm in there, for cheap insurance if nothing else, I'm going to replace both.

Just had some quick part number questions that I'm sure someone on here can cross reference. Got these numbers from NAPA. So here they are

Idler pulley 36329

Tensioner "assembly" 38257

Belt 25-081265

My main question is with the tensioner "assembly". My buddy that owns the local NAPA said that what came up in his computer is comprised of two pulleys. Does this sound right?

Thanks for any help!

You don't happen to have a video of what that sounds like do ya? I'm trying to track down something similiar and would love to rule these out.

Re: Birds under the hood!!!

Sorry, I do not. At first, it was justin a cold start. Then it was when I got on the throttle - the more throttle, more chirping. Now it's that, plus at idle. Pretty common problem from what I've gathered.

Re: Birds under the hood!!!

I just replace the bearings in the idler and tensioner pullies. Press the old one out, press the new one in. Cost less than $3.50 each.

Sounds simple enough! Excuse my ignorance on the issue, but does that take any certain kind of too? A press maybe? You have piqued my interest!

Also, do you have a P/N for the bearings?

Re: Birds under the hood!!!

That 203FF fit about 90% of all vehicles. about the only tools you need is a hammer, some sockets to drive the bear out and a vise helps. Around here the chinese bearings are about $3.50 and the good quality are $7-8
