Exclamation 911 Help no crank no start

Ok here is what i have
2006 F550 6.0
new batteries
new alternator

truck just got our of the shop and seemed to be riunning great. I took it into the pasture to repair some fence and that is where she sits. shut the truck off and no i have nothing.

It blows fuse 103 the starter fuse i beliege when i turn the key on

no dash gauges
no door locks or windows
no apparent power to the fuse block
both batteries are brand new and load test at full power

the dome lights still work as well as the 4 way hazzards.

other than that it all seams dead. i need to get her going as she is my daily driver. any assistance would be great.

i am thinking that it is a starter issue possible shorted out but i am a 7.3 guy and am new to the 6.0

Re: 911 Help no crank no start

That fuse #113 should be a 30A in the fuse box under the hood, power goes from it through the started relay (pin 30 to pin 87), in the same fuse box then down to the starter to energize the starter when you start it. Something must be shorted to ground, I'd pull the starter relay out first, then replace the fuse and see if it blows, if that's good disconnect the solenoid wire at the starter and see if it blows. I'd suspect the wire rubbed on the engine or trans line, look around that area for wire damage.
If you disconnect the solenoid wire from the starter solenoid then you can jump the solenoid to the battery cable and it will crank, so if you have the key on it will start.

Re: 911 Help no crank no start

to get it home use the starter solenoid wire mounted on the passenger side fender. touch it to the positive battery terminal with the key on and it'll probably start.

sounds like you have a wire shorted out to a ground so its popping the fuse everytime

Re: 911 Help no crank no start

Resolved the issue. The fine Gents at FORD neglected to fasten the body to frame ground wire. Re-attached it and things started working. I still have a few minor gremlins rolling around but it starts and runs now. Thank you for the trouble shooting ideas.
