6.0 Injectors

Is there a difference between a 03 injector and a 05 injector. In other words will a 03 injector work in an 05?

Re: 6.0 Injectors

Well we put 4 new injectors in today in 1,3,5,7 and the box had 03 on it. The truck ran fine for about 20 min and the on the test drive it died and has white smoke and diesel coming out of the tail pipe. Now on the IDS all of them show as bad injectors why is this?

Re: 6.0 Injectors

Sounds like you have a bad FICM. There is a remote possiblity that it's a wiring issue, but with the whole right bank coming up bad, I would suspect the FICM. Check the harness connectors on the bottom of the FICM first to make sure they are all connected tight.

I would agree to check the FICM wiring, but they have two connectors with different sequences of numbers to help you diagnose a wiring/FICM problem.

Here is a LINK to some more information, but if the FICM were bad, you would get everything on one bank showing as bad (2, 3, 5, and 8) or (1, 4, 6, and 7).

Re: 6.0 Injectors

I agree with injectors being matched up but if your 03 has 2 bad injectors, Ford will only replace those 2. The replacements are not going to be C-94s either. Is there really that much difference in the output? I know a guy that has like 5 of his stock C-94s and 3 replacements and the freakin truck runs 13.4s on fuel and 12.2s on spray. I guess somebody forgot to tell his injectors that they won't work together.

Smile Re: 6.0 Injectors

Ok here was the deal they replaced the right side with an 03's injectors. That would not work they all went dead after about 1 mile. Put in new oneS and the truck ran great for two days. Now they replaced the other side and it drives like a new truck. LOTS OF POWER NOW!!!!!
