Why would they do an earlier than normal release? If they are going to, they better be building them now down in KY. Normal model change is June time frame with them hitting the lots by July.
2011's were released in March or April of 2010. Ford did the same with the 2008's and released them in the spring of 2007. 2012 will be released in July or August of this year. The pattern is always the same.
My dad works in the body shop at KTP in ky building cabs for the sd and he said they have a few colors they are talkin about adding to the options but he dosent really know. But he is layed off for the next week or 2 while they do maintance is what they told him
They will tell you they dont know because they dont want people waiting to make a decision.. They will say they dont know because it leads you to believe there is no change and you will just make the purchase now..
Well I for One,hope they Come out with the Flame Blue for the 2012 Model, and i Hope they have the Trans Tunning Ironed out and are able to address the Traction Control...
If They get all that taken care of the New 2012's will be The Best Ford Ever Built Fo Sho....
For me, Ford will have to increase the fuel rail volume so it can flow more fuel, and replace that weak ass turbo they're using.
Until they do, I've got no use for the 6.7L. and I'll be keeping the most powerful Powerstroke ever.
I'm wishing they never parted ways with Navistar.
I hope they get this fixed because I'm ready for a new truck.
Im with George C, I own a 2009 6.4 and a 2010 6.4, I owned my 2011 6.7 for exactly 38 days before it went down the road.. Fords got a lot of work to do to put the 6.7 on the pedestal the 6.4 was.
Well, I'm happy to have a 400hp & 800 ftlb stock truck. It actually got a bit annoying having to add aftermarket stuff to the 7.3L to get some power to it. I also like having a warrranty again.
I love the truck's power in stock form, so haven't felt the need to modify it, UNTIL I finally towed 21,000 lbs yesterday. Truck handled the 8k lb gooseneck & 13k lb excavator beautifully until I got to a very steep section of highway at 8500 feet above sea level and couldn't run over 45 mph on a couple of sections, where I would have preferred to run 55 mph.
So I agree that the turbo needs some modifications for high altitude heavy hauling. However, I had plenty of power at 5500' above sea level with pulling the extra 21k lbs. I realize it probably sounds a bit ridiculous complaining about only being able to run 45 mph up a steep hill at 8500 feet above sea level running nearly 29,000 lbs gross, when the truck rolls along at 70-75 mph with no problem on the flats at high altitude.
I just wonder, and may soon get to find out, what this stock engine will do closer to sea level, so sometimes wonder about the complaints regarding the overall power. I mean, how much faster than 70-75 mph do you want to run with 21,000 lbs behind a 3/4 ton truck. It was so smooth at that speed that I had to keep reminding myself that I might be on the edge of the safety zone, even though there was no evidence of that by the feel of the truck & trailer.
I understand your point..
Maybe bitterly disappointed was harsh, but you did sum it up well when you said that we are spoiled.
By being spoiled, it makes it a somewhat bitter pill to swallow knowing we have to go backwards in the power dept.
Option one is to keep what I have.
Option two is to buy new and be bitterly disappointed in power.
Option three, and least likely, wait for the 12' and hope some of the undersizing problems are addressed.
actually the 6.7 is designed to combat a common problem. People modifying there vehicles to beyond their warranty designed limits. They made them run out of fuel and boost for a reason, just like the sho, etc.
Its easy to hack a programing, but not so much for physical changes which will be required. So now you will have to spend some real money if you would like to play big shot. If you have to buy a turbo, injectors, etc most will be deterred. A simple chip will also not be able to cause the damage as they once could as your still only going to get so much fuel.
So ford does know what they were doing, they were making it more of a pain in the ass for people to make big power and then cry warranty when things break.
On a side note: George C, if you can buy a truck for every day then why dont you just build a 6.7 and put the money into the truck and you will see thata 6.7 is superior to a 6.4, just not in stock form for quick and cheap power.
Damage, hacking, cry warranty, big shot....
You really have no idea, do you?
I would bet that most of us that tune, have less warranty problems than those who don't.
Can you comprehend engine oil without the pollution of EGR driven soot that turns oil into sludge? Or maybe a cooler operating temp with no fuel induced regens? Possible less engine stress by not having to push 50 HP worth of exhaust thru the DPF substrate?
Maybe not having to service a heavy SCR system, while not having to deal with DEF?
Everybody tunes to become a "hotshot" alright..
And, you automatically assume that if I break something under the added "stress" of tuning, that I (or we) would cry warranty..
If you read these pages, you'll see that money usually isn't a problem with these guys, and that most hard core tuners beef up every possible component, depending on their needs, so I doubt warranty claims ever enter the picture.
I've got over three years of Spartan/SCT and KEM tunes, and one broken starter bolt and 1/3 less fuel used..
And you are right about one thing, if Ford won't do it, I will.
I do suspect Ford will make some adjustments because truck enthusiests who buy, read magazines. When they see GM and Dodge ruling the land in the power dept, that is the product they will buy....
The thing is this, if I have to spend 8K to make the truck run right and get acceptable mileage, or spend 2K and buy something else to achieve the same thing, I'm considering it...
I don't have a problem with the 6.7L design, it is superior in more ways than one, it's just the problems I mentioned. I do think the 12' MY will tell a lot. Either they fix the "problems", or we'll see that the problems are not "problems", but rather Ford's attempt to not let the aftermarket tuners make absurd power with the engine. Then you are right, it'll be up to the aftermarket companies to make the changes to allow that power to happen.
Ford will have to make changes to the turbo set up. The high altitude tests have proved that it is not enough for the truck. As for fuel it has plenty up to around 500whp so I doubt they will make any changes. I hope they do change the turbo tho for the simple fact of a better running stock truck.
Oh any my warranty claims were not caused by the mods done to my truck. When ford put the new motor in due to a egr cooler failing i left everything on my truck including the innovative race tune.
I don't see why everybody wants to Bust Georges Balls LOL
I've read the same replys as ya'll and i didn't see anything negative in his replys only truths, the same truths I'm saying!
I believe George wants the same thing i do in a Truck!
I want it to be capable right off the lot, specially for the damn Price they are asking!
BUTT,when I buy my trucks,I'm really looking at what the Truck Can Be with Mods, but the truck has to be able to make the Numbers and the 6.7 has a few issues to overcum :~) before it will be the Mod Friendly motor the 6.4 has proven to be...Turbo,and fuel pressure are two main concerns to me,Even in the new Diesel mag where they Delete the crap on the Exhaust and run the H&S Black Max,it shows the fuel dropping off around 2,800 RPM's or so and say it's due to Fuel pressure dropping,But that they can Fix it with the tunner...They also said this will not happen on all trucks the same some will hold better pressure i guess?
Trans shifting is another Issue! But It looks like the new Flash has helped Most and with the Tunner you can Fix it right...
So overall I'm pretty Impressed with the new 6.7 motor...
I think in the Book...it's at work :~) they had around 32 PSI with the turbo,But on the Dyno they could Only get 30 PSI with it Under Load....
I can't wait to Get Mine ! just letting them get a few more Bugs worked out...
I'm Praying as i have said before for a Flame Blue color in the 2012 Models,If they come out with that they will Reel me In LOL
