Question HELP! 6.0 ran out of fuel, now won't start!

I just installed the sinister egr delete with a new oil cooler on a friends "06 6.0 ,got it all back together, changed the oil & filters, gutted the thermostat to flush system, started up,ran fine for 2 minutes backed out of shop, idled for another 3 minutes or so .Then I reved the engine slightly twice then it just died.Checked and determined it was out of fuel(faulty guage readings).Added 5 gals. fuel cycled key a few times ,got fuel in filter housing& has a little pressure on removal of cap.It shows oil pressure by the guage while turning over, but wont start! I am new to these so I don't have any test equipment.Local dealer told me to un plug the glow plug control and start on either, but I don't like the sound of that,He said it sounded like it had an air lock.If so, where is the glow plugcontroler? Any help would be appreciated.

Prety sure you just need to bleed the lines then cycle the key a few times.

Don't use ether.. Try turning the key to the on position and let the pump run for a bit then do it again, then try to start it..

Loosen the plugs on the back of the heads and cycle the key until you get fuel only. Tighten plugs and crank. Also did you use a ford oil filter?

1. put the motorcraft filter back in. 2. dont worry about taking the banjo bolts off the back, crack the cap of the fuel bowl and have someone watch it while you cycle the key, once its steady tighten the cap up and crank. Should fire. Another thing folks DIDNT mention. You changed oil cooler correct you have air in the system, fact you ran out of fuel is one thing, but the other fact is you didnt run the air out of the oil side so your gonna have starting issues. Stock gauge moves at 7psi not nearly enough to start.

After you see fuel coming from the bowl tighten and crank it 20 secs, and rest crank it 20 secs and rest do not burn up the starter, you should see the oil gauge rise slowly, once it builds enough pressure it should fire right up and DO not shut it off till you run the air out. After a few cranks hold the crank and listen you should begin to here it try and turn over once it gets its pressure built back up.
